‘after the flood’ (2014)

A toilet overflowed. The flood resulted in the destruction of documents and objects stored in cardbord boxes in the basement of the house. While attempting to salvage what had been left forgotten, this family photo-album from the 1920s resurfaced. Pages were stuck together, traces of magazine articles imprinted on photographs, and on some fragments only a torn corner remained. This new, autonomous image, its trace, stood as a refusal of the nostalgic photographic object.
